Green Party on the 2012 ballot in Kentucky!

We made it!!!

Friday, September 7 at 3:30 PM, a half hour before the deadline, we submitted 8,370 signatures to the Ky Secretary of State’s office to get Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala on the presidential ballot in Kentucky.  At 6:30 pm, Geoff Young got a call from Mary Sue Helm in that office (working overtime) to say that they had reached 5,000 in their counting and decided to list our candidates on their web site:
http://gp.org/site/

Jill, Cheri, and the Green Party will appear on every ballot in Kentucky unless one of the other parties files and wins a lawsuit to disqualify enough of our signatures to bring us below 5,000.

If you feel you’d like to help more, please consider making a contribution to the Stein-Honkala campaign and/or the Kentucky Green Party so we can accomplish more during the next few months leading up to the election.

Also, please form local Green Party groups in your city or county and start meeting and talking about how we can keep making a difference.  June has some suggestions about how we could have an impact by pushing to have Cheri Honkala included in the Vice-Presidential debate scheduled in Danville, Kentucky on October 11 (at Centre College).  There’s also Geoff Young’s campaign in Fayette County for the Ky House of Representatives 45th district. please contact Geoff if you’d like to help with that.

  1. Congratulations to Michael Fogler, Geoff Young and all who made this possible. Now it is time to roll up our sleeves. With Obama having a slim change of winning Kentucky, it is a chance for the Green Party to grab some traction.

  3. People are becoming aware all over our state. Here in Greenville I am spreading the word to all who will listen. People recognize that our system has us trapped and they feel they are forced to vote for the lesser of two evils. My hope is to reveal to them how far their choice really is from where they want to be. I know my eyes have been opened in just the last few months!

  4. Can you guys please endorse candidates for the local races? For example, I’m trying to figure out what Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors to vote for on Nov. 6 and I can’t find any information about them!

    • I don’t know that any of us are doing this. I also don’t know your specific location in Kentucky. If you let us know that, perhaps someone reading this might know. Otherwise, you can do your own research and see which candidate is closest to the Green Party values and principles.
